Joanne has significant experience working within NGO and government social and health services. She has facilitated and contributed to the design, development, and review of social change programs of work in both Aotearoa and Australia.

A common theme in her work is ensuring that service and commissioning models best serve whānau, hapū and iwi, and grassroots community activity. She has investigated how funding models are ‘best fit’ for tamariki, whānau and community services, utilising the principles of community development and collective impact.

Joanne currently lives in Tairawhiti and works for local iwi. Joanne has been working as a contractor with Ihi Research since 2021, she has contributed to a number of key projects including, Māori Involvement in State Care, the Wellbeing Continuity on Release Evaluation and is currently working on the evaluation of Wave 15 for Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu.
