All Right? Campaign

Project Background

All right? Is a wellbeing marketing campaign conducted by Canterbury District Health Board. We were commissioned by the All Right? team to assist staff in developing an innovative Māori focused resource that supports whānau. We designed a data gathering process focused on collecting the thoughts of tamariki and whānau in the Canterbury area.

What we did

Here, Sue Turner, manager of the All Right? campaign, describes the project: “The All right? campaign engaged the services of Ihi Research and Development to carry out a process evaluation of the development of a kaupapa Maori resource for whanau wellbeing. We approached Cath Savage and John Leonard in mid-2015 with an emergent idea and were delighted that they were able to quickly synthesise the information we presented to them. Cath and John came up with a practical plan for the way forward which included working alongside our health promoters to conduct focus groups, carry out individual interviews, record conversations and thematically analyse the material. The end product consisted of a presentation of a range of exciting examples for our steering group to consider.”

“One of the most satisfying aspects of working with Ihi was that right from the start we felt that they understood and supported what we wanted to achieve and how we wanted to work which was very reassuring. Our group was enriched by working with Ihi. Cath and John have a great skill set which many organisations and projects could benefit from. We will certainly be seeking to continue our working relationship with Ihi Research and Development.”

-Sue Turner, All right? Campaign Manager, Canterbury District Health Board.

Outcome

The result was an exciting collection of ideas generated by whānau across Ōtautahi. “The empowerment evaluation model used by Ihi worked extremely well alongside the values base of the All right? campaign and the group was grateful for the depth of experience and wisdom brought by Cath and John to the work.” Sue Turner
