Rugby World Cup Campaign Reviews.

Ihi Research has been contracted by World Rugby to undertake campaign reviews across multiple Rugby World Cups -Japan 2019 (10 teams), New Zealand 2022(12 teams),France 2023 (12 teams), and England 2025 (16 teams). In 2025, Ihi Research also completed the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 campaign review, extending this body of work to the women’s game.

Teams are asked to complete surveys at two points: Survey 1 at the conclusion of the preparation phase (prior to the first game) and Survey 2 at the conclusion of the pool stage/tournament phase.

Surveys have been provided in English, Japanese, French, Russian, Georgian, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Fijian and Samoan languages.

Three cohorts are surveyed: players; coaches; and management/support staff.

The survey design ensures dynamic data allowing comparison between the perceptions of different cohort groups at two points in time.

We provide written campaign reviews for each participating union, and a cross-case analysis report that is shared by World Rugby with participating unions at a post-Rugby World Cup review meeting.

These reports are confidential to each union and World Rugby.
